Daniel “Garf” Garfinkel
Camp Director
daniel@bayviewglen.ca
Daniel has been involved at a camp since he was 2 years old! Camp is his happy place! His strong teambuilding skills, and deep understanding of camp programming makes him a dedicated and well-rounded Camp Director.
Daniel has been a full-time Summer Camp professional for over a decade including roles as a Camp Administrator, Program Director, and Camp Director. Having been the Assistant Camp Director at Bayview Glen in the Summer of 2021 he was integral in the creation of the new camp structure and all health and safety policies.
In addition to his enthusiasm and experience, Daniel’s background in teaching communication and teamwork through his years as a teambuilding professional gives us the confidence that both our camp leadership team and camp staff group will continue to provide all Bayview Glen campers with a fun and safe environment to grow!

Julia Bursa
Assistant Camp Director
julia@bayviewglen.ca
Julia has been spending her summers at camp for more than 15 years! She is an experienced community and social services professional who graduated from Nipissing University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies. She has focused her career on child and youth program development by holding various roles from Youth Engagement Facilitator to Camp Leader. Most recently, Julia
has been the lead program coordinator for Ronald McDonald House Charity Camp
Programs.
Julia has always been drawn to working with children and believes that camp is a fantastic environment for encouraging growth and development – while creating lifelong skills and friendships! She fell in love with the beautiful surroundings, awesome outdoor activities and the friendships and bonds that come from experiencing these things together.
Camp is clearly Julia's second home, and she is absolutely thrilled to share new experiences this summer with the Bayview Glen Camp family!
Our Philosophy
Bayview Glen’s comprehensive camp program, fantastic facilities, and highly qualified staff have combined to give campers summers filled with positive experiences and lasting memories since 1962.
We believe in providing campers with the ultimate summer experience by offering the best of a traditional camp paired with the newest innovations available. Our philosophy brings together the critical elements of age-appropriate programming and focuses on the development of self-esteem, positive relationships, and an exposure to new activities giving campers summers filled with fun and a lifetime of positive memories!
Through our own continuous learning and commitment to ongoing improvements we lead with the awareness to always be a camp where kids can be kids. Where they explore and discover. Where they always feel safe and supported to test their boundaries and truly experience life.
Welcome to BVG, where continuous innovation and the confidence to stand out from the crowd is what makes up our DNA.
Our Facilities
Our camp offers the best of both worlds: a country environment in the heart of the city. The secure, leafy campus of Bayview Glen Independent School give us all-day access to a wealth of facilities while the wonders of our ravine keep campers close to nature every day. Our natural setting lets campers safely experience the great outdoors while inspiring them to respect nature.
Our Caring Community
More than a camp; we are a community. What makes Bayview Glen Camp such a special place are the connections formed between campers and counsellors. Every summer, we welcome more than 1,000 families from the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
Our Staff
We carefully select experienced staff each year, including counsellors, specialists, supervisors and health center staff. Our staff go through a diligent screening process which selects for critical and creative thinking, collaboration, communication, problem solving and a genuine interest motivating and inspiring children. Our caring, nurturing staff helps ensure that camp is always safe for our campers and that their experience is nothing short of amazing.
BVG Camp incorporates First Aid and CPR-C training into our intensive pre-camp safety and skills training course, and our staff have passed a police check. Camper to staff ratios are low with a target of 5:1 in our Wildlings programs and 8:1 in all other programs. All our specialty supervisors deliver engaging activities and programs and have chosen to work at BVG Camp because of our reputation for excellence, and the wonderful work culture we create every summer.
