Programs & Activities

Activities at Bayview Glen Camp are designed to be age-appropriate and are chosen to develop and promote the intellectual, physical, and emotional growth of each camper.

Our activities are centered on the basis of Bayview Glen Camp’s 17 Essential Skills.

Adaptability, Collaboration, Communication, Confidence, Creativity/Innovation, Critical Thinking, Empathy, Leadership, Listening, Observation, Perseverance, Planning/Organization, Problem Solving, Risk Taking, Self-Regulation, Team Work and Trust

Our industry best swim program provides an extremely high-quality Life Saving Society’s “Swim for Life” program. Each child is placed into a swim group based on their ability and/or current badge level.

As we prepare to build our beautiful new Athletic Centre including a new pool and gymnasium,  our swim program will be held at either the Yorkland Pool or Shendy’s Swim Center (depending on age). Our program maintains the same individualized, high quality swim instruction (by experienced instructors) that we have always provided.

Both of these heated indoor pools are less than 5 minutes from our BVG Campus and campers will be shuttled to and from their respective location.

  • Campers born in 2006 – 2014

Canadian Life Saving Society swim instruction will take place at The Yorkland Pool.

  • Campers born in 2015 (4 years old by the start of camp)

Canadian Life Saving Society swim instruction will take place at Shendy’s Swim Center

Perks of the pool

  • Campers swim 3 times within a 6 day cycle

  • Ongoing evaluation and feedback are provided to parents throughout the summer

Special Days and Events

Mock Overnight

Our Mock Overnight provides an introductory overnight experience to our younger campers. Once a month, our Junior Camp campers and their counsellors remain at camp for an evening of special programs and a delicious BBQ dinner. Campers are then picked-up by their parents at 7:15 p.m.

An evening program and overnight is scheduled for our Senior Camp and Elective Program campers once every month (Lynx, Cheetah, Jaguar, Tigers and Pre-LIT’s). Campers and their counsellors remain at camp for an evening of special programs, delicious BBQ dinner, camp social, a sleepover and breakfast.

Campers have the option to be picked up at 8:30p.m. if they choose to not stay overnight.

Family Nights

Our family nights are an excellent chance for you to meet your child’s counsellors and swim instructors, and to see what your child’s day is like by participating in several typical daily BVG activities. To cap it off, when weather permits, we enjoy a traditional campfire and marshmallow

Specialty Camps

BVG Specialty Camp programs have a variety of activities available from ages 5 to 13, all taught by professional coaches and instructors. BVG specialty camp campers participate in morning training and activity sessions in their chosen specialty and re-join their cabin’s scheduled camp program in the afternoon.

Born 2011 -2014

Campers will spend a half-day participating in a variety of sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, floor hockey, racquet sports and more.

Camp Timberlane Trips

As our campers grow, we believe it is important to offer a variety of overnight opportunities. For many years we have been fortunate to partner with Camp Timberlane to provide our campers with an optional 3-day overnight experience.

Camp Timberlane offers a rich array of activities taught by full-time, qualified instructors. Careful and individual attention is given to every child, beginner to expert. BVG counselors travel with their campers to all activities to ensure that they participate with friends, have fun, and experience the thrill of achievement.
